Hang-Up Gallery prepares for witty TYPE exhibition

An art gallery in Stoke Newington is preparing to host a new exhibition of never before seen original drawings, paintings and limited editions by four ground-breaking artists.

The Hang-Up Gallery on Stoke Newington High Street, which is revered by collectors around the world, is preparing for TYPE – a collection of artists linking text and art.  They include Harland Miller, David Shrigley, The Connor Brothers and Banksy.

The works included painterly pictures overlaid with witty text.  The exhibition takes place between March 16th and May 6th.

The Hang Up has specialised in Banksy sales for the past decade – their so-called Banksy Bunker includes a mix of original canvases, sculptures and limited-edition prints. Other well-known artists whose works have been displayed there include Ai Weiwei, Harland Miller, Bonnie and Clyde, Mark Vessey and David Spiller.

Staff at the gallery know their stuff and have built close links with a global network of galleries, publishers, dealers and private collectors.

This latest exhibition is full of fun and British humour – something The Hang Up has in abundance. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a vibrant art gallery on our doorstep. As well as being a great place to see rare Banksy works, it’s a chance to view work by some amazing emerging and established artists.

“Because their team is so well connected, they’re able to track down specific artwork very easily.”

While the Banksy Bunker is a permanent feature, the rest of the gallery changes constantly – if contemporary art is your thing, this is definitely worth a regular visit – and admission is free.

Every piece of art is for sale and the price tags vary wildly.
