Welcome to Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds, often referred to as the ‘Jewel in the Crown of Suffolk,’ is a historic market town known for its stunning architecture, thriving food scene, and strong sense of community. Offering a perfect blend of heritage and modern convenience, the town attracts families, professionals, and retirees looking for a lively yet peaceful place to call home.

A Brief History

Bury St Edmunds has a rich history dating back over a thousand years. The town takes its name from St Edmund, the martyred King of East Anglia, whose remains were enshrined in the Abbey of St Edmund, once one of the most powerful monasteries in medieval England. Though largely ruined, the Abbey Gardens remain a focal point of the town. Bury St Edmunds also played a key role in the Magna Carta, with its barons laying the groundwork for this historic document in 1214.
