The neighbourhood restaurant, which is run by broadcaster and restaurateur Andi Oliver of the Great British Menu with her business partner Kelly Miles, opened last year in Church Street and has been doing a roaring trade.
This latest accolade for Andi’s is well deserved. Hot Dinners is a major influencer on the foodie scene so being hailed as the best new restaurant will undoubtedly be great for business.
Andi’s catchphrases include: “beautiful food for beautiful people” and “a little love in your tummy.” The menu includes a range of healthy brunches and evening meals such as energy bowls with pulses, vegetables and fish or meat, baked Burford Brown eggs with optional accompaniments such as crispy lardons, Cumberland sausage and smoked haddock and sandwiches with salt beef, tamarind molasses with ham and eggs or bacon and maple syrup.
The food is seasonable and mostly supplied by local and independent producers, makers and growers.
Before opening Andi’s the pair ran the Sugar Shack at the Homerton’s Jackdaw and Star and held events at The Birdcage in Columbia Road. They recently joined forces with local discount card the Local Buyers Club to organise Stoke Newington’s late night Christmas shopping event.
Among the comments from those who voted for Andi’s in the Hot Dinners contest were:
“The food was generous, imaginative and utterly delicious, like the very best home cooking, service was lovely and it's a room you could hang out in all day."
"Amazing neighbourhood restaurant. Great welcoming atmosphere. And steak tartare with marmite soldiers - one of the BEST dishes in London."
"It feels like a proper old-school neighbourhood restaurant with the loveliest, most welcoming atmosphere and yummy food. The steak tartare is frankly outrageous and reason enough to always return."
"An atmosphere that warms your heart."
