Located in West Norfolk and close to the borders of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, the village has grown from its Saxon beginnings to a population of around 4000, making it one of the largest villages in Norfolk.

It has a great community with a small primary school (originally built as a hospital), a small selection of local shops and a village pub.

Covering the largest of all Norfolk parishes there are two parish churches, and it lies close to both Thetford Forest and the National Nature Reserve at Weeting Heath. RAF Feltwell, a former Second World War bomber station, is currently used by the United State Air Force.
